The Crime Survey for England & Wales 2018 identifies a 0.8% increase in the proportion of adults who experienced sexual assaults in the last year and notes that people may be more inclined to report such offences due to an increase in public awareness and discussion.
Our Challenge Rape campaign was rolled out with the intention of calling out rape and sexual assaults and was intended to take blame away from the victim. There is never any excuse for rape.
